Caveau restaurant opened up in the antique cellars of Heritage Square in 2004. The concept of unpretentious fine-dining quickly entrenched it as a firm favourite on the local culinary scene. A daily-changing menu, innovative wine list, relaxed atmosphere and attentive service have garnered it extensive acclaim, included a place amongst the Condé Nast U.S. list of “35 Coolest International Night Spots.”
The innovative and extensive wine list is categorized according to moods and styles, not region or varietal, making it informative and practical. The restaurant offers over 400 wines, with 70 available by the glass.
The original Caveau was joined by a second at the Josephine Mill in Newlands in 2007. Both offer outdoor seating. The Bree Street restaurant is adjoined by Caveau Deli that offers fresh-pasta, charcuterie and a Raw with full-time sushi chef. www.caveau.co.za
